To The Men Who Killed My Mother
A Covid-era poem by Kathy Tran Wilson
To the men who killed my mother
That never wanted to learn
The consequences that came
With the choices they made
That should have been for them
To the men who killed my mother
You may never know her name
But your decision to use your voice
To stop her life
Affected her the same
To the men who killed my mother
The one who cared more about the day
The one that came and infected her
With the deadly Covid strain
To the men who killed my mother
The one that shared her pain
I saw the regret in your face
As you heard your children say
Goodbye sweet mother, we loved you so
Let her death not be in vain
To the men who killed my mother
To the vanity you showed
I hope one day you lose that thing
That makes your ego grow
To the men who killed my mother
I speak for her today
You stole her voice and her choice
To vaccinate and stay
To the men who killed my mother
To you all I have to say
I hate you to my dying breath
For taking her away
